CARE in September

Card club is meeting at my house tomorrow night. We are making three different cards. One is a sunshine stamp from Verve, one is a pumpkin stamp from PTI, and the last one is an anchor stamp set which is also from Verve. These will be going out to our homebound members and others with prayer needs.

A Happy Hello

I combined a few different sets for this card, for the Addicted to CAS challenge: circles. The stamps are from the PTI sets Hello Sunshine and Polka Dot Parade #2. The inks are from Stampin Up.

May 2013 Card Club Preview

These are a couple of the cards we will be making for our May card club gathering. They are based on our Western VBS theme and the stamps are from the Giddy Up set from There She Goes stamps.

This one is for Sunday School teachers to send to their students who are moving up to the next class in the fall.

This one is for our VBS teachers to send out to the kids about a month after VBS is over. I got the idea for this card here.

Whatever the Weather

I am making cards for our church's outreach event - our "Welcome Summer" Community Fair. The colors for this week's Color Throwdown work perfectly. The only color I did not incorporate was black. The stamps are from PTI: Background Basics Medallions, Background Basics Super Stripes, and Hello Sunshine. This is the very first card I made, and since I messed up on the bottom section with the yellow, it will be my sample card which will go in my file. Now all I have to do is make 50 more of these!

Brilliant!

My first attempt at color blocking - I used a long narrow acrylic block and stamped the darker colors once on a scrap piece of paper before applying to my project. After a few failed experiments I came up with something I liked, and I will be teaching this technique to the ladies at my card club this Friday. The stamps come from PTI's Movers and Shakers seniments set. This card is for 2 challenges: CAS-ual Friday for the color blocking and Hand Stamped Sentiments for the colors.

Retrosketches #49

I've been asked by a friend at church to make more cards for new residents: we have a welcome team and they like to send out a little something to people who move into our area. I used this week's retrosketches challenge as my inspiration, and used "gender neutral" colors. I'll be making 20 more of these, but it's all good. I am honored to be using my passion for card-making and stamping to serve God! Kim has been, and still is, my inspiration for leading a card-making ministry, which we call CARE. Stamp set is from Papertrey Ink.

I Heart Mail

This week's inspiration photo from Hand Stamped Sentiments is all about hearts. What struck me the most about the photo was all the envelopes in the background - they are all white, save one. A stampin' friend lent me her mailbox stamp from Stampin' Up, and I used the confetti heart punch from Martha Stewart to create a plethora of floating hearts coming out of the mailbox. The sentiment is from the dollar bin at Michaels - and I must say it's true that you get what you pay for. The stamp is mounted crooked on the wood block, so it takes a bit of practice to stamp it straight! We made a bunch of these at card club to send to our homebound members in February.

Amazing Grace

Great colors over at the Paper Players challenge blog! I usually don't have exact matches when I play along with color challenges, but this time I did! This card will be one of many which my church card club will be making tomorrow. The stamps are from a set called "Whatever" from Clear Dollar Stamps and include a great selection of grunge sentiments. The sentiment may look like it wasn't stamped properly, but that's the way the stamp is designed - hence, grunge. I originally bought this set with the idea of making "cool" cards for teens, but it works for this one, too.

The Cross

This card is for three challenges: Less is More and Simon Says, which both happen to be having a black and white + dash of color, and the layout from Sketch Frenzy Friday. The cross image is from Clear Dollar stamps.

 

Faith

I made this card for a challenge blog (red carpet studio) but I missed the deadline, which is really too bad because I like the way this one turned out, and it was so easy. All the stamps and dies are from Clear Dollar stamp. I used black and white (the challenge colors) along with a bit of red to symbolize the blood of Christ. As a Christian, I have a tendency to equate my relationship with God with my feelings - if the feelings aren't there, then perhaps God isn't there either. But that is not true. Faith is not feeling, faith is trust, faith is knowing that the promises laid out for us in the Bible are still true today. May your faith be strengthened during this season of Advent.

 

 

 

More Little Houses

Here's another card I made using the little house stamp from Clear Dollar Stamps. I made these for my church to send out to new residents to welcome them into the neighborhood. The sentiment comes from the Boards and Beams set from PTI. I also used Ranger's liquid pearls in buttercream on the top and bottom.

CASE This Sketch #1

A new challenge blog - woot! woot! I've been working on some cards for new neighbors for our church outreach, and I've had this little house stamp which I purchased from Clear Dollar stamps several months ago, but never used - until now! The sentiment is from PTI's Boards and Beams set.

I am working on another card using this same stamp, to be posted soon.

September Card Club

Thanks go out to all the ladies who came to our card club in September. They worked really hard and did a fantastic job.

We made 40 fun spinner cards for our upcoming chicken bar-b-que, which will go out to all the new visitors. I love the way the patterned background paper looks a bit like chicken wire!

We also made two different encouragement cards which will be sent out to our members who are homebound or have prayer needs. The sentiments for these come from PaperTreyInk.

And finally, we got some christmas cards finished, but I sent them "away" to be completed by another volunteer so I did not get a picture this time.

Faith and Prayer

My sister let me borrow her set of key stamps and sayings over a month ago. They've been sitting idle,waiting for inspiration. Well, it finally hit me while I was folding laundry. The result: a very clean and simple card, perfect for the ladies at my church. I followed the color scheme from the Color Throwdown challenge blog.

Fully Rely on God

I purchased the Hoppy Frogs stamp set from Clear Dollar stamps specifically so I could make a card with the acronym FROG, which of course means "fully rely on God". It's perfect for our card club for those times when we need a card for the kids. I am entering this one also in the Less is More color challenge: three shades of green. My strip of grass wasn't quite long enough to reach across the entire width of the cardstock, and I did try to cut the cardstock down to fit the grass, but the design I had just didn't work with a smaller base. Instead, I added an extra bit of grass at the end, as you can tell by the seam. It's got a bit more going on as far as layers are concerned, but since this is not a one layer challenge I hope it will be OK to qualify. If not, it's still a keeper and we'll be making more at our get-together next week!
