Love You

Valentine's Day is coming, and although I have plenty in my stash, I wanted to make something new. This was made for a challenge, but I didn't submit it in time, so I'm just posting it as is.

Peanut Butter and Jelly

This is for the Retro Sketches Challenge #98.  The stamp is from the PTI We Go Together. I adore a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but my favorite jelly is strawberry! I made this card with grape jelly in mind.

I Heart Mail

This week's inspiration photo from Hand Stamped Sentiments is all about hearts. What struck me the most about the photo was all the envelopes in the background - they are all white, save one. A stampin' friend lent me her mailbox stamp from Stampin' Up, and I used the confetti heart punch from Martha Stewart to create a plethora of floating hearts coming out of the mailbox. The sentiment is from the dollar bin at Michaels - and I must say it's true that you get what you pay for. The stamp is mounted crooked on the wood block, so it takes a bit of practice to stamp it straight! We made a bunch of these at card club to send to our homebound members in February.

Unscripted 191

I liked the layout for this week's Unscripted Sketch challenge, I really did. However, my final card does not look like the sketch very much, if at all, and I debated if I should even post it. I decided yes, because I was at least inspired by the sketch, and I did try to keep some of the elements, such as the rectangular shapes and the circles. It may not look much like the original sketch, but I do like the result. Stamps and die are from Simon Says Stamps.

 

 

Love Always

I love the sketch for this week's challenge at the Paper Players, so I turned it into a Valentine's Day card. I used my cricut to cut out the letters, and all the paper came from my scrap bin. And, now all my scraps once again actually fit into the bin. It's not really a bin, it's actually just the top of a paper ream case, but it works. I keep all my patterned scraps in this cardboard lid, and store it in a plastic drawer by my work table. All the colored scrap pieces are separated into hanging folders beneath. How do you organize your scrap paper?

I Heart You

Here's my card for this week's clean and simple sketch challenge. I have been trying to use up some of the scraps in my bin, and I came across this piece of background paper which I had stamped in red and black using PTI stamps. The hearts were cut with my cricut and the sentiment comes from The Cutting Cafe. Very clean, very simple. But my scrap bin is still too full!

Valentine Throwdown

The ladies are gathering tomorrow, and I am in a last-minute rush to complete the card kits and beat this sinus infection into submission. Thanks to a super easy but super elegant spirelli technique, a wonderful Bible verse from Dee, and a great color combo from the Color Throwdown, I've got this last kit to assemble today. These cards will be going out to all our shut-in church members next month. I hope they like it.

Quite the Pear

Another card from my scrap bin for the Less is More color challenge. I am also entering this one in the Paper Players theme challenge: love. This is a valentine's day card, albeit a bit non-traditional in both the color and image. The stamp is from the dollar bin at Michaels, and I used a doily to highlight the image. One pear is paper pieced, the other is stamped with purple ink. I stamped the image in white, but I didn't like how it looked, so I stamped over it again with a purple ink. Still a bit too light for me, but it's got a nice dimensional effect.

Card Cupids for January

I follow the Card Cupids blog on my google reader. It's a great mission and I'm happy to participate in this month's Valentine card challenge! I was able to use up some scrap paper to make this cute and simple card. I cut the heart with a stencil and added some cream rick rack ribbon. Hope the kids like it! And thanks, card cupids, for all you do!

Sketch Frenzy Valentine

I love the simplicity of the sketches over at Sketch Frenzy Friday. And, I was able to use up some of my scraps from my overflowing scrap bin. I tried something different with the 3 hearts - they were cut 3 different sizes, then I stitched them together down the middle with pink thread, folded in half and adhered to the card. It gives the hearts a dimensional aspect that I like, plus it can lay flat for shipping. The sentiment is from The Cutting Cafe.
