Christmas Cards - Better Late Than Never

These are actually for next year. I found a DCWV paper stack on sale and was inspired to make up a few cards...

 

 

RCS#14: Frosty the Snowman

It's a snowman, but it isn't Frosty. It's actually a stamp from the dollar bin at Michaels which I then colored with my copics. This is for the Red Carpet Studio's challenge: to create a project using a snowman.

Just Can't Help Myself

Apparently I'm not done making Christmas cards this year, but honestly I couldn't resist when I saw the hot pink and lime green in this week's TAWS Be Inspired challenge photo, so I created this card using one of their free digital stamps. I popped up the stars and the sentiment, and used sparkly green paper circles on the right edge.

 

 

Faith

I made this card for a challenge blog (red carpet studio) but I missed the deadline, which is really too bad because I like the way this one turned out, and it was so easy. All the stamps and dies are from Clear Dollar stamp. I used black and white (the challenge colors) along with a bit of red to symbolize the blood of Christ. As a Christian, I have a tendency to equate my relationship with God with my feelings - if the feelings aren't there, then perhaps God isn't there either. But that is not true. Faith is not feeling, faith is trust, faith is knowing that the promises laid out for us in the Bible are still true today. May your faith be strengthened during this season of Advent.

 

 

 

A Papertrey Christmas

My sister and I share a passion: papercrafting. She's the one that got me started on it over 10 years ago. We also both love Papertrey Ink stamps. She has also started her own blog, Paper Candy. Occassionally we get together and share supplies, and at our recent get-together I was thrilled to learn that she had just purchased PTI's Winter Hills stamp set, so I took full advantage and made a bunch of these cards. She also taught me a new technique - watercoloring with ink. I used my watercolor brush and a slight amount of ink to color the hills and houses. I stamped the background halfway up the card because it was taking forever to do the entire card, and I did about 20 cards total. I like the non-traditional colors, too. I am entering this in this week's A Passion for Papertrey Challenge: Christmas is Coming. 

Merry Monday 4

Merry Monday #3

Well, it hasn't been exactly merry in my world the past several days, since I am currently losing a battle with a sinus infection. But, since my card making club is scheduled for this Friday, I am drinking copious amounts of liquids in an effort to be well enough not to cancel. I found the Merry Monday challenge through another blogger and knew it would be just the thing I would need to motivate myself to design enough Christmas cards to reach our 900 goal for next year. Here's my take on this week's sketch.

Gingerbread

I'm participating in the year-long Christmas card challenge over at Splitcoaststampers. The goal is to make a certain number of Christmas cards each month, and since my card making group has decided we're going to make 900 cards for the residents of a local nursing home, we'll need quite a few! The punch was easy and fun to use. The sentiment is a stamp from the dollar bin at Michaels.

Snow Fun with JAI 93

My daughter's girl scout troop leader asked me to design a holiday card for the girls to make at their party in December. I was really drawing a blank on this one for quite a while (at least a week), but today, while drinking my morning cup of coffee and looking at this week's color challenge for Just Add Ink, I thought - snowman! This is a fun and festive extra large card that the girls will have a great time assembling - I hope.

The dapper little man was sporting an orange "carrot" nose, but for some reason it just didn't look right, so I left it off and gave him a wry grin instead. The black hat clashed a bit with the color palette, so I added a narrow slice of the base blue to draw the eye up. And, I was so inspired, I made a smaller, simpler version for my card club members to make for our Great Christmas Card Challenge (Read: as many as we can make before Dec. 6th for the nursing home residents).

CAS and Color Throwdown

My church card club is 204 cards into our challenge of providing Christmas cards to the residents of a local nursing home. It's just the beginning of November and I can honestly say that I am getting tired of making Christmas cards! Thank goodness for the motivation and inspiration from all the terrific challenge blogs. And here's my card for the Clean and Simple 164 sketch and the Color Throwdown 166. The stamps come from The Angel Company. The mitten was a free digi I found over on Bird's blog, which I printed on green cardstock and fancied up with a white gel pen.
