5 Birds for 2

Playing along for the latest Alley Way Stamps Be Inspired Challenge. I am using their freebie bird digi stamp, which I modified a bit to come up with this little stack of cuteness. Polka dots make everything cute, don't they? I am also entering this in the Fusion challenge, since they also had a cute stack of birds in their photo challenge.

 

 

 

 

Little Lady

This card is for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge, and the CAS-ual Fridays challenge which was to use the color pink. I had seen this ladybug made from a scallop punch somewhere on the web, and since I had just bought myself a scallop punch I thought I'd give it a try. I was concerned at first about making a pink ladybug, but I like how it turned out. I realized after the fact that I put the liquid pearls on the wrong way. Oh, well.

Fully Rely on God

I purchased the Hoppy Frogs stamp set from Clear Dollar stamps specifically so I could make a card with the acronym FROG, which of course means "fully rely on God". It's perfect for our card club for those times when we need a card for the kids. I am entering this one also in the Less is More color challenge: three shades of green. My strip of grass wasn't quite long enough to reach across the entire width of the cardstock, and I did try to cut the cardstock down to fit the grass, but the design I had just didn't work with a smaller base. Instead, I added an extra bit of grass at the end, as you can tell by the seam. It's got a bit more going on as far as layers are concerned, but since this is not a one layer challenge I hope it will be OK to qualify. If not, it's still a keeper and we'll be making more at our get-together next week!

Age is Just a Number

Here's a card I made while away at my weekend crop, using a set of stamps by Inkadinkadoo. They belonged to my sister, but I loved them so much I bought some for myself. I paper pieced the lizard, stamping first onto the white cardstock base, then stamping again on green paper, cutting out and adhering on top of the original image. I am entering this card in for the Paper Playtime challenge - for the guys. The rules state that you can enter as many times as you want, and this card does qualify, so....

After I took this photo, I added three eyelets to the bottom right corner in the three colors; yellow, green, orange. The black panel was looking a bit too plain without it.

FTL 172

My scrap paper bin is overflowing, and I am on a mission to reduce it's size. The layout for the Clean and Simple challenge was a big help this week. Here I've done 2 versions of the same card. I used a stamp from the dollar bin at Michaels and paper pieced the bird's body. The sentiment is also from the dollar bin.

On this first card I added some yellow stickle bling to the beak, wing, and tail.

And here's the second card, which is a bit more monochromatic...

Hello Friend for SFF and Card Cupids

My craft room is the hottest room in my house, which is really too bad. With the three windows that get all the afternoon sun, the heat coming off my computer monitor and my lamp, even the AC can't keep up. But that usually just means no crafting during the afternoon, which I can deal with (sigh) until the cooler weather comes. In the meantime, here's a card I made last night for Card Cupids and Sketch Frenzy Friday.

The card cupid challenge is monochromatic, and I thought these cute little stamps from Michael's dollar bin would be good for a girl. I know, another pink card, but honestly I need a break from making "gender neutral" cards. And I've been in a pink mood lately. Perhaps it's from all the strawberry mango smoothies we had on vacation...yum!

You're So Square

Mojo Monday is a great blog and I just recently started playing along with their weekly challenges. I used this week's sketch to make a boy themed card for Card Cupids. I'm not entirely thrilled with the way this one turned out - but I am submitting it anyway. I spent a really long time fussing over the coloring of the dog - shading, re-shading, adding colors on top of other colors, even blending with my water brush. Perhaps I fussed too much. Oh, well. I do love this dog stamp. I've used it many times before, but I just had to use it again for this project - it's the perfect image for a boy.Paper is from the Complete Boy stack by My Mind's Eye.

My daughter has been a great design helper. As I was working on the dog and fussing over which colors to use, she said, "You should use green for the collar." And go figure, I had just at that moment decided to use green! Hmmm, is it genetic, or just plain creepy?
